# How to Divide in Microsoft Excel

Through this article, I am going to share with you how you can divide in Microsoft Excel. So, follow below some simple and easy steps to know how to divide numbers in Microsoft Excel.

As you might know that, there is no particular divide function is available in MS Excel. So, we mainly use the slash (/) to divide the numbers in MS Excel.

## DIVIDE IN MS EXCEL

Step 1: The very first step is to open your spreadsheet or create a new dummy data to perform this function or test this function.

Step 2: In the second step, you need to apply a formula or need to use a slash sign which will work as a division operator, and also this formula begins with the equals to (=) sign.

Step 3: In the below image I am going to divide the A1 cell with the B1, and in the cell C1 you will see the reminder.

Look at the formula bar for a formula that I have used.

Note: If you divide and number with zero or empty cell then this will through #DIV/0! Error.

Step 4: If you, divide any number with those number which gives reminder in decimals then you can use the QUOTIENT function to return only integer portion.

Step 5: If you, divide any number with those numbers which leave a reminder then you can use the MOD function to return the remainder. Check out the below image.
